On the philosophical level, Descartes＇ ＂Substance Theory of the Self＂ also has a far-reaching influence. However, it is always easy to find various views that challenge the existence of the self, and regard it as an ＂illusion＂. Then, by replying to each theory, the ontological status of the self will be defended.
