Effects of Surface Tension on Droplet Evaporation in High Temperature Airflow

For the heating and evaporation of a single fuel droplet in high temperature airflow,an analytical model was established.The n-dodecane droplet was taken as an example to consider the thermal expansion,the surface tension,the thermophysical properties of airflow and their variation.By employing the mobile mesh method and using temperature interpolation to decrease the deviations caused by the mesh movement,a computer code was developed.After comparing with relevant results in the references,the droplet evaporating in a high temperature airflow was simulated,and the effects of surface tension on droplet evaporation under the heating of high temperature airflow was discussed.The results show a small influence of surface tension on the interior pressure and evaporation of the droplet.
